Staged Reading of BEING HAROLD PINTER
We don't usually post blogs that fall on the side of advertising a performance, but I thought we should make an exception for this one.
Local theatre artists in our nation's capital gather together to demonstrate their support of and solidarity with the company of Belarus Free Theatre and the people of Belarus.
Being Harold Pinter incorporates transcripts from Belarusian political prisoners with excerpts from Harold Pinter's lifetime of writings. The newest work from Belarus Free Theatre blurs the boundaries between art and reality, delivering a poignant contemporary commentary on violence, oppression, freedom and human dignity.
This stage reading is a part of the Global Artistic Campaign in Solidarity "Free Belarus," an initiative started by Belarus Free Theatre and endorsed by playwrights Tom Stoppard and Vaclav Havel, as well as notables Ian McClellan, Jude Law, and others. For more information on the Belarus Free Theatre and the situation in their country, please visit their website www.dramaturg.org or www.charter97.org
Admission is FREE, but space is limited. You must reserve a ticket by emailing FreeBelarusDCtix@gmail.com. Include your name, email, phone, and number of tickets requested. Please do not contact the theater directly.
FreeBelarusDC's Being Harold Pinter is a labor of love featuring local actors Ian Armstrong, Will Gartshore, Leigh Jameson, Rana Kay, Mark Krawczyk, Marni Penning, Delaney Williams. A talk back will follow the reading.
Produced by Leigh Jameson and Heathen Rituals in partnership with Theater J.
