2009 Tony Nominations

Tony Nominations were announced this morning, and it's a big year for DC based theatre. Signature is being honored this year as an outstanding Regional Theatre. Next to Normal, which came to Arena Stage after it's off-Broadway run, has garnered 11 nominations, and I expect it to win quite a few. The DC area also saw a production of 33 Variations at Arena; the Broadway production has 5 nominations. And the revival of West Side Story, which tried out at the National, has received 4 nominations.

I'll be up in New York this weekend, hopefully to catch Mary Stuart, and perhaps Hair. I'll be sure to report back afterwards, and give you my favorites to win as the awards night draws near.
